Who we are, What we do, and Our goal
EcoSupply is an online e-commerce marketplace that provides an additional to platform to showcase the goods and services of locally owned and sourced businesses while minimizing the effort required by the general public to live a more sustainable lifestyle
We are tailoring our services to small businesses that provide at least some environmentally friendly products (plastic free, zero waste, non-chemical alternatives, etc). We are not limiting access to specific industries.
EcoSupply provides an additional online presence for all its business clients by connecting their inventory. We work as an online marketplace that provides business members access to a wider online audience. EcoSupply accomplishes this by providing consumers with a streamlined means to browse your inventory and make purchases.
Our mission, is to help small businesses prosper while minimizing the effort required by the general public to live a greener, and more sustainable lifestyle. We accomplish this through the implementation of a new online marketplace that allows users to browse the selection of local businesses within a user defined radius. With an increasing demand for online marketing solutions, EcoSupply provides an additional avenue for small business to sell their product and enhance their online presence while making a more sustainable lifestyle accessible to customers.
The overall goal of EcoSupply is to accelerate the reduction in societal dependence on single use plastics by simultaneously stimulating environmental / green market growth. This is achieved by implementing an online platform that streamlines public access to locally sourced, zero-waste themed goods and services. The intended outcome is reduced plastic pollution, boosted income for local business owners, and reduced energy spent on shipping goods.
Our Reasoning for our mission
Plastic pollution is currently among the largest and least understood environmental challenges facing our global society. A primary concern of plastic pollution is the degradation of plastics into microfibres (microplastics). Microplastics accumulate in waterways and aquatic environments, and can harm organisms that depend on these ecosystems, including humans. Microplastics are easily consumed by aquatic organisms, obstructing their digestive systems, enhancing the growth of pathogens, and degrading their muscle and organ tissue.
These organisms, typically fish, are commonly ingested by humans, causing a build-up of all the related contaminants in the human body. Plastic pollution represents a growing threat to aquatic ecosystems and human health, and societal-scale action is needed to address this global issue.
As the cost of living, food, and materials continue to rise, local businesses are under increased financial strain. The economic challenges for small businesses are now arguably worse than the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, local businesses must manage advertising to gain customers, a paramount priority. To gain customers, these businesses are often forced to rely on exposure from word of mouth, temporary market storefronts, and social media. For many people, discovering local businesses that provides the desired zero-waste good or service often requires a prohibitive amount of effort, so the convenience of online options is favorable. We aim to enhance exposure for local businesses with zero-waste goods or services by creating an online platform, accessible via app stores, that provides users with an interactive map of local businesses in their area, and the goods and services that they provide.
